Alex Gonzales

Alex D. Gonzales age 88 of Cubero, NM died peacefully on July 22, 2016.



Alex's life will be celebrated during a memorial service on Saturday, July 30, 2016, beginning with a rosary at 9:30 am and a memorial mass at 10:00 am at our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Cubero, NM. Family and friends are invited to Alex and Lorraine's home after mass.



Survived by his wife Lorraine of 63 years, their children Steven Gonzales and wife Marla of Roswell, NM, Peter Gonzales and wife Donna of Gallup, NM, Cheryl Morin and husband Bob of Cubero, NM, Linda Stogner and husband Michael of Estancia, Star Gonzales of Cubero, NM, Elena Farr and husband Roy of Datil, NM, Chris Archunde of Seattle, WA and his sister, Ella Mirabal of San Rafael, NM. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Juanita Gonzales, his sister Gloria Gottlieb and brother Antonio Gonzales Jr.



Alex had a passion for soil and water conservation, serving many terms as Cubero Land Grant President and giving over 47 years' service as Lava District Supervisor of the New Mexico Association of Conservation Districts.



Alex was a guiding light to many, both family and friends. There is not enough room to begin to tell his story, his legacy will live on in the lives of everyone who knew him.
