Obituary

With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Barbara J Rawdon, 91 of Grants, New Mexico, who took her final bow - unafraid and with an open heart - on June 14, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born on June 6, 1935 in Magdalena (Elmendorf) New Mexico and spent her life - as an educator for 38 years - for Grants High School, New Mexico State University Grants Branch and St Teresa RCIA Program - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. She was known above all for being compassionate about her education and her daily life dedicated to our Lord Jesus Christ. She was a woman of extraordinary beauty, strength, and grace and lived as a force of nature - unyielding, loving and unforgettable.

Barbara was a devoted daughter, sister and wife to the late Paul Rawdon, her husband of 50 years;

She is survived by her children, Margie Blatnik (Frank), Jerry Rawdon (Jennifer) and Donna Rutherford (Scooter); Grandchildren, Larry Blatnik (Rachael), Valerie Mitchell (Tim), Amanda Ortega (Jason), Tyler Rutherford (Shea), Jacob Rutherford (Cara) and Dustin Rutherford (Megan); Great-grandchildren, Taylor Huddleston (Trevor), Josh Blatnik (Kennadi), Trent Blatnik, Easton Blatnik, Aubrey Patterson (Nick), Tate Mitchell, Nathanial Ortega, Andrew Ortega, Derek Ortega, Ryan Ortega, Kaysen Rutherford, Kaden Rutherford, Troy Rutherford, Paislee Rutherford, Erin Rutherford, Noah Barnard and Emma Gonzales; and five (5) Great-Great grandchildren; sister Jo Castillo (Gene) along with elven (11) nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be held on June 23, 2026 at 6:00 pm and the Resurrection Mass on June 24, 2026 at 10:00 am; both at St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grants, New Mexico.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to St. Teresa Catholic School, at PO BOX 729, Grants, New Mexico 87020.
