Funeral Mass for Ben "Benjie" Ortiz, Sr. 72 of Grants, New Mexico will be held on Friday-April 7, 2017-10:00 AM at San Rafael Catholic Church.



A Rosary will be held on Thursday-April 6, 2017-7:00 PM at the San Rafael Catholic Church.



Ben was born on May 30, 1944 in San Rafael, New Mexico and he passed away on April 2, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.



He is survived by his loving wife: Velma Leyba Ortiz of Grants, New Mexico; Sons: Johnny Martinez of Espanola, New Mexico and Benjamin Ortiz of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Daughters: Corrina Betenbough and husband Wayne of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dorrina Ortiz of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Valorie Salazar of San Rafael, New Mexico, Tania Montez and husband Anthony of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Nancy Chavez of Grand Junction, Colorado, Annette Chavez husband Ted Lucero of San Rafael, New Mexico, Samantha Chavez and husband Cristino Enriquez of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Sisters: Vera Mirabal of Milan, New Mexico and Barbara Herrera of Bernalillo, New Mexico; 17 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.



He is preceded in death by his parents: Manuel Ortiz and Mariana Barela Ortiz; Brothers: Manuel Ortiz, Jr. and Phillip Ortiz; Sister: Emily Baca.



Pallbearers will be: Andrew Romero, Ted Lucero, Matthew Duquette, Cristino Enriquez, Johnny Martinez, Gene Mirabal.



Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
