Bernadette Marie Gonzales

Bernadette Marie Gonzales, 76, passed away on March 27, 2024, at her home in Grants, New Mexico. She was born in 1947 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 

Bernadette is known by everyone who knew her as a loving, kind and compassionate person. She had a cheerful disposition and maintained an optimistic outlook on life.  She went out of her way to help everyone and it's fair to say that she never met a stranger in her life. Her passions were cooking and gardening. She was always trying new recipes and keeping the yard looking beautiful.

She is survived by her son Mark Gonzales; daughter Shauna Gonzales; brothers Ruben (Song Hui) Chavez and Michael Chavez; sisters Sofia Martinez, Rosemary (David) Tafoya, Agnes (Pat) Martinez and Sandra Padilla.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Benjamin Gonzales; parents Gabriel and Manuela Chavez; brothers Raymond Chavez, Gabriel Chavez Jr.; sister Mercedes Chavez; nephews Phillip Tafoya, Patrick Martinez, Juan Martinez and Rick Vallejos; nieces Deborah Aragon and Christie Martinez.

Pallbearers will be: Joel Bertrand, Brandon Strickland, Steve Gonzales, DeWayne Gonzales, David Sanchez and Eddie Jaramillo.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 224 Mountain Road in Grants, New Mexico. Burial will follow at the Grants Memorial Park.
