Carl Esequiel Medina passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, in Grants, New Mexico, at the age of 72. He was born on June 17, 1954, in Mineral Wells, Texas, the beloved son of Esequiel and Delores Medina.

Throughout his life, Carl embodied honesty and authenticity, earning the respect and deep affection of those who knew him. He was known for his warm heart, a genuine nature, and a quick wit that brought joy to his family and friends. “What you see is what you get,” aptly described Carl’s approach to life, and his straightforwardness endeared him to all.

Carl was a proud veteran, having served his country honorably in the United States Army before receiving an honorable discharge. After his service, Carl attended trade school to study auto restoration, developing skills that he would continue to value throughout his life.

His professional journey took him to the mines, where he worked as a miner and miller. Carl then dedicated himself to highway construction, contributing to the growth and infrastructure of his community. His work ethic, reliability, and integrity were evident in every endeavor he undertook.

Outside of work, Carl found joy in simple pleasures. He cherished time spent fishing and hunting, pursuits that connected him deeply with nature, and he enjoyed the entertainment and camaraderie of visiting the casino. These interests brought Carl many moments of happiness and relaxation.

Carl’s legacy continues through his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Frances R. Medina, whose steadfast companionship was a constant source of strength; his daughter, Sara Ledzma, who brought him pride and love; his brothers, Ricky Medina and Danny Medina; and his uncle, Joe Mike Medina. He leaves behind his aunt, Elsie Medina and aunt, Ida Mora as well as several nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his father, Esequiel Medina, his mother, Delores Medina, and his sister, Kathy Macumber. Their memories remained close to Carl's heart throughout his life.

Carl will be laid to rest outside of Mora, New Mexico. Details of his services will be determined at a later date.

His honest spirit, hearty laughter, and unwavering authenticity will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
