Funeral Services for Chester Claude Baker, Jr. 77, of Grants, New Mexico will be held on Wednesday-June 14, 2017-11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Grants, New Mexico. Burial will be held at the Sheldon Cemetery in Duncan, Arizona on Friday-June 16, 2017.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday-June 14, 2017 from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Chester was born on May 22, 1940 in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas to Ida Wray (Sissy) and Chester C. Baker, Sr. and he went home to be with the Lord on June 10, 2017 in Grants, New Mexico.
Chester moved to Clifton, AZ when he was three years old. He graduated from Morenci High School and attended Eastern Arizona College.
Chester worked for Phelps Dodge Corp ad he was a highway patrolman. In 1989, he and his wife moved to Grants, New Mexico where he worked for Plains Electric until 2000 when he retired after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. He also had Chewan Electric and attended NMSU in Grants.
Chester had two daughters and married his loving wife in 1970. He loved old cars, dancing, bowling, hunting and horses. They placed in tow World Championships with the Appaloosa Horse Association.
He is survived by his wife: Wannell (Anderson) Baker of Grants, NM; Daughters: Debie Wells and husband B.C. of Washington, and Phillis Bolin and husband Lonnie of Colorado; grandchildren: Tim Burkholder and wife Mikki, Chris Wells, Nathan Bolin, Shannon Brooks and husband Clay, Amanda Kemp and husband Chris and nine great Grandchildren; Siblings: Chip May and wife Sue, Joe May and wife Sharon, Hollie Rowen and husband Randy, and numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father: Chester C. Baker, Sr. and Mother Ida Wray (Sissy Middleton)
