Delfin "Del" Salazar, a beloved patriarch and seasoned uranium miner, passed from this world on July 14, 2025, in Gallup, New Mexico. Born on August 12, 1934, in the serene embrace of Coyote, New Mexico, Delfin lived a life woven with rich experiences and vibrant connections that spanned generations.

Del was not just a Uranium miner; he was a soul whose strength and dedication stood as a testament to hard work and unwavering resolve. Having joined the U.S. Army, he distinguished himself through his commitment, working with munitions and developing a keen understanding of the complexities of service to his country. The stories of his time in the Army, filled with lessons of loyalty and camaraderie, were often recounted with a twinkle in his eye, captivating all listeners, particularly his cherished grandchildren.

A proud graduate of Coyote High School, Del carried the values instilled in him by his parents, Santana and Don Salazar, who preceded him in death. His roots defined him, shaping the man who took immense pride in providing for his family while always placing them at the center of his universe. He was a beacon of love and stability for his many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish his nurturing spirit and kindness.

Del savored life’s simple pleasures, whether it was tending to his garden, catching up on the day's events with the newspaper, or indulging in his favorite TV news segments. These moments provided him a profound joy that radiated outward, reminding family and friends of the beauty found in everyday life.

As we prepare to celebrate his remarkable journey, we invite family and friends to gather at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Gallup on August 1, 2025. The day will commence at 10:00 AM with a Rosary, followed by a Mass at 10:30 AM, allowing everyone to pay their respects and honor a life well-lived. The final farewell will take place at the Gallup State Veterans Cemetery, where his dedication and sacrifices will be forever honored in a burial service at 1:00 PM.
