Donald Lee Ward Jr., affectionately known as “Tie,” passed away on August 27, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on June 27, 1984, in Gallup, New Mexico.

Donald will be remembered as a man who loved the outdoors and felt at home in anything that took him outside. He was also known for his mechanic skills and for the enjoyment he found in working on vehicles. Some of his most cherished memories were rooted in that world, including Amanda's son Jerry, watching Tie race cars and work on cars. One favorite story remembered by those who knew him was the day Tie and Jerry fixed an old truck, only to break it again the very same day. It was the kind of memory that reflected both Tie's sense of humor and the bond they shared together.

At home, Donald was known for the familiar moments that became lasting family memories. He loved drinking coffee every night with his mother, a simple routine that spoke to the closeness they shared. He also brought humor and personality into everyday life, fondly remembered for calling out to Amanda, “Baby make me some food!” Those words, remembered with affection, capture the warmth and ease he brought to the people closest to him.

Donald is survived by his; his mother, Janice Ward; daughters, Brianna, Nicole, and Abby Ward; and his sisters, Tilda Hensley, Sandra Miles, and Jessica Ward and his partner, Amanda Wilson and her sons, Jerry Vanveghel and Joseph Soto;. He leaves behind a family who will carry forward his memory in the stories they share, the laughter they remember, and the everyday moments that meant so much.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ward Sr.; his brother, Donald Taylor Jr.; his nephew, Austin Ward; and his grandson, Elijah Valdez.

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 1:00pm at the Pioneer Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluewater, NM.

Donald will be remembered with love for his strong family ties, his outdoorsman’s spirit, his mechanical talent, and the many memories he created with those around him.
