Dorothy Dawson

February 4, 1925 — November 24, 2014

Funeral Services for Dorothy (Trammell) Dawson, 89, of Grants, N.M., will be held Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at 10 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Grants. Graveside services at Grants Memorial Park will follow the church service.

She was born on Feb. 4, 1925, in Meeker, Okla., to George and Agnes Trammell.

Dorothy passed away on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014.

She attended Braham's Business College after high school and worked at Tinker Field in Shawnee, Okla., during World War II. Dorothy and Gene Dawson were married in 1949. They were married for 43 years.

Dorothy was a wonderful homemaker, wife, and mother. She put her business skills to work as bookkeeper for the family office supply business in Grants for 30 years. Her gift was hospitality; she loved to cook for large groups, play games, and have fun. The holidays were her favorite times of the year.

She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and led her family to do the same. Her family will miss her immeasurably but take great comfort in knowing they will be reunited one day in heaven.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband: Gene Dawson; her parents: George and Agnes Trammell; her sister: Maggie Dawson; and three brothers: George, Sidney, and Charlie Trammell.

She is survived by her daughters: Jean Ann Latham and Nancy Tillman; four grandchildren: Micah Magee, Michelle Wulfert, Lindsey Hansen, and Chelsea Tillman; and 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
