Funeral Services for Elizabeth Hope Hatcher 80 of Grants, New Mexico will be held on Saturday-September 9, 2017-11:00 AM at Compassion Mortuary. Burial will follow at the Grants Memorial Park.
Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend Elizabeth Hope Hatcher passed away peacefully at her home in Grants, New Mexico on September 3, 2017. She was lovingly known as Hope, and was 80 years old. Hope was born in Chapmanville, West Virginia on February 12, 1937 to Daniel Boone and Thelma McCloud.
She moved to Grants in 1960 and met and married the love of her life Sammy L. Hatcher. She was always known as an incredibly hardworking and dedicated wife, Mother and friend. She held various accounting jobs in the community and was thought of as the "go to bookkeeper". She worked at First National Bank and then moved on to the mining industry with Ranchers Exploration and Development, Homestake Mining Company and Gulf Mineral Resources. She retired at the age of 71 from the Inn Best Western in Grants, New Mexico.
Hope was an avid reader, gardener, monster crossword puzzle solver and wonderful cook. She was a life long learner, devout Christian and seeker of the truth. Hope's love for her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren was unmatched and she could be often found sitting on the floor playing games with them.
Hope's greatest desire in life was to make a difference in people's lives. She will be remembered fondly, missed greatly and never forgotten.
Hope is survived by her daughter: Anna Merideth Hultman and husband Joel; Granddaughters: Janis Bodley and husband Jason, Nikki Bourke and husband Shane; Grandsons: Matthew DeSonier and wife Addie, Tad DeSonier and wife Kayla, Daniel Elloitt and wife Casey; Great Granddaughters: Jennifer and Kailene Bodley, Kali, Kori, Riley, Fallon, Brady DeSonier, and Jolene Elliott; Great Grandsons: Bradford Bodley, Ian and Cohen DeSonier, Jack and Ezekiel Elliott; Sister: Sharon Coberly and husband Gary.
She is preceded in death by her Husband: Sammy L. Hatcher; Children: Melony DeSonier, Bradford Elliott and Elizabeth Jean Hatcher; Grandson: Mitchell DeSonier; Sisters: Madeline O'Dell and Patricia Hager; Brother: Fred Daniel McCloud; Parents: Daniel and Thelma McCloud.
Pallbearers will be: Joel Hultman, Jason Bodley, Brad Bodley, Kevin Bodley Adrian Venable, Anthony Johnson.
