Hortensia Rubio Milan
March 6,1935 - January 30, 2024
Hortensia Rubio Milan (Tencha) passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 30,2024. Born
March 6,1935 in Mexico City, Mexico. Predeceased by her parents, Luis Rubio and Dolores
Ramirez Rubio. Tencha had five brothers and one sister. When Tencha was 14 years of age,
she joined her father and brothers riding motorcycles and even competed in women’s
motorcycle racing. She also had a passion for playing piano, like her mother Dolores. She had
her own compositions that she loved playing for everyone.
In 1957, Tencha met Paul Milan at the Newman Club in Mexico City. They married after a year
of courtship on April 12, 1958. The couple honeymooned in California and settled in the Village
of Milan near Salvador and Bennie Milan’s homestead. They lived at and ran the Milan Motel
while raising their four children. Tencha is survived by her husband Paul, two daughters, Tensia
Simmons and Norma Milan, six grandkids and two great grandkids, with a third great grandchild
on the way. She also had several nieces who loved her very much.
Our mom Tencha is no longer in pain and is free from suffering. She was quite a character, with
the gift of gab, a Verbal Olympic Champion. Not only was she a gifted pianist and artist, Tencha
was a beloved companion to our father for over 66 years. Her love of animals was her passion
and she rescued too many to count. We were blessed to have had her as our mom. We are
comforted, knowing our mom is with our brothers Paul Anthony and Henry in heaven. She will
be missed.
