Jay Taylor passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 after a full life of 83 years.



He was born November 8, 1939 in Seminole Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Andrew and Ila Taylor and a niece, Kimberly Taylor.



He is survived by his wife, Shirley, son Todd and his wife Sandy, 2 grandchildren, Jarod and Lauren of Phoenix, brother Larry and his wife Sue, and 2 nephews, Jeff and Craig.



Jay graduated from Hobbs, NM High School in 1957. He attended college at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas for 3 years and married his high school sweetheart, Shirley, in 1960.



He moved to Grants in 1961 to help his parents with the Handy Andy grocery stores. He operated the stores until 2016 when he retired.



Jay had many hobbies including golf, bowling, fishing, carpentry, and gardening.



He was a fifty year Mason of both Malpais Lodge #71 AF & AM, Grants, NM and Scottish Rite, Valley of Santa Fe, and a Ballut Abyad Shriner.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Memorial Service on March 11, 2023 at Compassion Mortuary in Grants at 2:00pm.
