Jean Smallwood-Gold

Rosary and Funeral Mass for Jean Catherine Smallwood Gold, 74 of Farmington, New Mexico will be held on Friday-February 13, 2015-9:30 AM at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 501 High, Grants, New Mexico. Burial will follow at the Grants Memorial Park.



Jean she was born on April 5, 1939, to John and Clara Plawski, in East Chicago, Indiana. She passed away on February 5, 2015 in Farmington, New Mexico.



She married and raised three children, caring for four foster children, she lived in Sasabo Japan from 1967 to 1970. After returning to the United States, Jean earned her Master's degree. Later in life she joined the Peace Corps teaching children in Jamaica and returned to Osaka Japan to teach English. Jean devoted her life caring for children and for the needs of others. She continued her mission in life caring for the children until a health issue forced her into retirement. Jean will be missed by all who knew her. She was a loving compassionate Mother.



Jean is survived by her Daughter Shannon Hawthorne, her Sons: Michael Smallwood and Scott Smallwood. Her Grandchildren: James Casas, Rachael Smallwood, Chris Smallwood, Stephanie Smallwood, Megan Smallwood and Richard Payne. Family Members: Clarence Hawthorne, Mia Casas and Teresa Smallwood



She is preceded in death by her Parents: John Plawski and Clara Rita Zelinski Plawski.
