Jonita Shaneen Jaramillo

Jonita Shaneen Jaramillo, 38 a resident of Grants, NM sadly left us on August 7, 2024, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Jonita was born in Albuquerque, NM. She enjoyed singing and dancing. She was a member of the Sunshine Generation group. She was a cheerleader and played basketball in High School, graduating in 2004 from Albuquerque High School. After high school she cared for her mother with a loving heart and a gentle hand, moving to Grants 2010. She received her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and was working on her Master's Degree. She loved animals, most of all she loved working the cows and horses with her dad and uncle in Cubero, NM.

Jonita put family first and had strong family values. She had a heart that was one of a kind and was always looking for a way to make a positive impact on others. She was a good listener and was someone you could always rely on for great advice. She was also strong in her faith and an honest person. Jonita had a beautiful and contagious smile that will be remembered by everyone. She is survived by her father: Joe H. Jaramillo, Brothers: Jeremy, Joel “Pudgy”, Sister Jennifer, Niece Lyric Jaramillo and grandmother, Elvira Benavidez. Godmother, Sophie Barraza, Aunts: Annamarie Jaramillo, ClaraAnn Tena, and Jessie Farris; Uncles: Lawrence (Brenda) Jaramillo, Uncle Chris (Christy) Martinez. She is preceded in death by her mother Sharon Margaret Jaramillo. Maternal Grandparents Elias and Rita Martinez. Paternal Grandparents Lorenzo and Josie Jaramillo; Aunt Lorene Reano. Jonita Shaneen Jaramillo will be deeply missed by many. Pallbearers: Jerome Reano, Gustav Barraza, John “Gibby” Gonzales, Johnny Peña, Gabriel Serros, David Barton. Honorary Pallbearer: Eli Miera. 

Services will be held as follows: Rosary: Wednesday, August 14, 2024 6:00pm-7:00pm at Mt Taylor Mortuary, 120 N 3 rd St. Grants, NM 87020. Refreshments to follow rosary at Future Foundations Center 551 Washington Ave. Grants, NM 87020.  Funeral mass: Thursday August 15, 2024 10:00am at Our Lady of Light in Cubero, NM, Burial to follow with reception at the Cubero Church Hall.
