Lawrence Daryl Clawson was born February 22, 1922 in Cannonville, Utah, he passed away, February 19, 2021 in Ramah, New Mexico.



He was the sixth child and second son born to William Wayne and Susie Hamblin Clawson. Daryl's childhood was spent with his family first in Utah then in Ramah, Shiprock and Fruitland, New Mexico. He learned to work hard on the Ranch with his Father, where he missed months of school each year.



Daryl attended school in Ramah and finished High School after returning from the WWII.



It was in Ramah where he met Elsie Bloomfield, they were married October 8, 1942 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. After one week of marriage Daryl entered the military. He was the nose gunner in a B24 boomer where he flew 51 missions over Europe. He finished his Military service in Arizona.



Ramah, New Mexico was their home until 1957 and then they moved to Bluewater, New Mexico and then back to Ramah in 1965. To their union 8 children were born. In 1953 their oldest daughter Marilyn passed, then in 2019 Elsie and their second son Eldon passed.



After his children were raised, Elsie and Daryl served a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in Australia, they also served as temple workers in the Albuquerque Temple for several years, which he enjoyed and valued very much.



Daryl was in 5 movies including Red Mountain, Only the Valent.



He learned to survey in the uranium mines which he later used to help build roads across the Navajo reservation.



He ran cattle for more than 50 years on the Ramah Land and Cattle Co. he helped establish. They raised children, hay, a garden, and most of what was needed to live on.



Daryl was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, and all but one brother, his wife Elsie, his oldest daughter Marilyn and his son Eldon.



Daryl leaves 6 remaining children: Michael (Shaaron), DeeAnn Lewis, Glenda, David (GayLynn), Virgil (Joyce) and Laureen (Bill) Kimberling. He was also blessed with 36 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren, all of whom he loved. As well as his brother, Evert.
