Lou Arvizo

September 7, 1916 — June 14, 2005

Funeral Mass for Lugarda "Lou" C. Arvizo, 88, of Colorado Springs, Colorado will be held on Monday-June 20, 2005-10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church in Cubero, New Mexico. Burial will follow in the Cubero Community Cemetery.



A Rosary will be recited on Sunday-June 19, 2005 - 7:00 PM at Compassion Mortuary in Grants, New Mexico.



Mrs. Arvizo was born September 7, 1916 in Cubero, New Mexico and died on June 14, 2005 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She graduated from Grants Union High School in 1940, and from College of St. Joseph of New Mexico in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master Teacher's Elementary Certificate form the College of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande in Albuquerque. Taught mostly children in elementary grades in both public schools and Native American Children on the reservation schools for 38 years. She assisted her husband in running a cattle ranch up until his death in April of 1990.



She is survived by her sons: Ted Arvizo, Jr. and wife Stella and Daniel "Buddy" Arvizo and wife Penny. Sister: Connie Baca of Grants, New Mexico. Grandchildren: John Arvizo of Los Angeles, California, Ian Arvizo and wife Sharla of Florida, Megan Harris and husband Lee of Harlow, Essex, England, Jamie Arvizo and husband Richard of Boulder, Colorado, Tresi Arvizo of Boston, Mass. and Chris Arvizo stationed in Japan; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.



She is preceded in death by her Husband: Ted Arvizo, Sr.; Parents: Eleuterio and Emilia Chavez.
