Sonia Proffitt

Sonia Proffitt, a dedicated and compassionate woman who was born on March 25th, 1934 in Pageton, WV, passed away on June 19th, 2023. She was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, who always put her family first in her life. Sonia's life was filled with many joys and challenges, but it was her unwavering strength and courage that carried her through. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart."







Sonia married Beryl Proffitt, on March 15th, 1952. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Sonia was a breast cancer survivor who demonstrated immense bravery in the face of adversity. Her hobbies included crocheting and watching soap operas, which brought her great joy and relaxation. Sonia, affectionately known as Sony, was a shining light in the lives of those who knew her, and her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones.







Sonia is survived by her daughter, Brenda Martin; her granddaughter, Pam (Donny) Thomas; her grandsons, Kevin (Jane) Martin, Danny Arthur, Scotty (Gerardo) Martin, Dusty (Gary) Martin, and Floyd Lane II (Nichol); ten great-grandchildren; and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Mose Rose; her mother, Margaret Rose; her husband, Beryl Proffitt; her daughter, Cheryl (Floyd) Lane; and her son-in-law, Scott Martin.
