Tita Valdez

A private celebration of Tita's life will be held at a later date. There will be no public services at her request.





Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On September 29, 2021, Tita Salazar Valdez, 69, of San Rafael, NM rejoined her heavenly family and gained her wings.



Tita was the most loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She lived a long and beautiful life and made every moment worth living. Her zest for life and sense of humor were on full display even in her final moments. While Tita suffered from health issues for many years, it would be wrong to say that she lost her battle, because she truly never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she may have been at times, she was always determined and never complained. Through her, we know what courage, resilience and perseverance truly looks like. There was simply no quit in Tita.



Tita was also an accomplished cook and most of the time she could be found in her kitchen preparing delicious food for her family and friends. As much as she loved to cook she knew that her cooking would bring her family together and that is what brought Tita the most joy. She passed her passion for cooking to all that knew her, especially her loving family. Tita was immensely proud of her family and loved them all so much. Her loss is great but she leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.



Tita is survived by her loving husband of 51 years: Fred J. Valdez; Sons: Freddie Valdez and wife Nakomi of Grants, NM; Corley Valdez and companion Fran Salas of Milan, NM; Frankie Valdez and wife Bernadette of Albuquerque, NM; Daughter: Tracie Valdez of San Rafael, NM; Brother: Joseph Anthony Salazar (Donna); Sister: Prescilla Salazar (Art), Debi Gallegos (Louie), Gale Jaramillo (Gary), Clara Lindquist (JD), and many special nieces, nephews and friends.



In addition, Tita is also survived by her very special grandchildren; Michael Valdez, Joshua Valdez, Frankee Valdez, Adam Valdez, Christobal Valdez, Elijah Salazar, Terry Salazar, Julian Salazar, Joseph Valdez, and 3 great-grandchildren.



Tita is preceded in death by her Parents: Reynaldo and Delfina Mirabal; Biological Father: David Salazar; Brothers: Harold Salazar and Wilfred Willie Salazar; and Grandson: Bryan Valdez.



What a beautiful life and legacy Tita leaves behind for us to remember. Be comforted knowing that she LOVED you all and she will be with us forever!
