Vernon Kennedy

Vernon Leander Kennedy was born May 10, 1956, in Elgin, IL. He was born to Mother-Amanda Mae Hubbard and Father- Robert Clarence Kennedy. He completed his journey on Thursday October 26th, 2023, where he passed peacefully in his home in Grants, NM.



Vernon’s service in this life doesn’t go unnoticed. He served his country proudly as a US Marine, receiving multiple honorary medals for his service; including those for Good Conduct, the National Defense Service, as well as a Rifle Marksman Badge. Vernon also held the position of 2nd Vice Commander at his local American Legion post 80.



Vernon was a lover of sports as well. He played & served as a coach, lending himself to teaching & being involved in overall sportsmanship. We celebrate his ability to lead and engage others in what he held close to his heart. In his free time, you could catch him on his bikes, whether he was riding his bike or fixing others, coaching or just being an amazing man, we know we could find him living out his purpose.



Vernon was preceded in passing by his parents Amanda Mae Hubbard and Robert Clarence Kennedy and his son, Izaiah Veasy. He also leaves legacy on this earth- 3 children: Marcus Corley (Marisa), Amanda Kennedy and Gladys Kennedy, 1 granddaughter: Gabriella James, 3 grandsons: Myles, Marshall, and Mason Corley. 3 sisters: Gloria Davis and Onetha Hubbard of Ottawa, IL and Rosalyn Kennedy of Phoenix, AZ, as well as a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
