Virginia M Marinez, 89 was born on August 26, 1936, in Embudo N.M. and departed us on December 25, 2025, in Grants NM.
She was a beloved figure within her family. Virginia was raised in Vadito and Los Alamos, New Mexico. Graduated from Los Alamos in 1955 and in 1956 she married her husband of 70 years Pedro Martinez and moved to Southern California where they built their life and family for many years. While raising a family she also was a working women working at Mattel's, Zodi's Gibson and retiring from Kmart. She returned to Milan in 1976 where they relocated their family to pursue mining jobs until their closing. They returned back to California to finish their careers. She then retired in 1997 moving back to Milan enjoying the outdoors, cooking, baking and going to the casinos and being with her family.
She is Survived by: Husband Pedro Martinez, Son Robert Martinez, Daughter Karen Candelaria & Husband Robert. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Darrin Martinez & Wife Monica, Desirae Martinez, Devin Martinez, Tiffany Candelaria & Terry Small, and Dylan Candelaria. Great-grandchildren: Jordan Aztlan, Angelina Martinez, Andres Alderete, Nila Martinez, Cyrus Martinez, Cruz Martinez, Maci Small and Emmett Small.
She is preceded in death by her sons: Larry and Frank Martinez, her parents: Max and Teresa Maes. Her brothers Alfredo Maes, Ralph Maes, Joe Maes and Rudy Maes. Her sisters Frances Vigil and Emily Maes.
Funeral Services will be held at Saint Vivians Catholic Church on Thursday, January 8, 2026. Viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Funeral mass will follow. Burial will take place at Grants Memorial Park. Reception will follow at Milan Family Fun Room at 405 Airport Road. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her.
